Awesome Game Camera - Can only get it to send pictures to my E-mail - Buying direct is cheaper
I have been using this game camera for a little under a week. This is my first cellular game camera and it is super cool! I love getting the instant notifications as deer walk past my game camera. I was unable to get it to send photos to my phone as a text. I am a Verizon customer and it says to enter you phone number as 10digetnumber@vzwpix.com. I would get a text but it would only be text. The image would not show up - jest a text of the image name - very odd. So I entered in my gmail address and that works fine. I actually have the e-mails being automatically stored in one folder which is nice so I actually think I prefer e-mail. Alerts come through in under a minute. From a picture quality perspective, you can have the pictures sent in small (640x480) - roughly 30kb per picture, big (1920x1440) - roughly 300kb per picture or original (5M,8M or 12M) which would be several meg per picture. The small picture is too blurry for me - no way to count the points of a buck if it was 15 yards from the camera. The big picture size is more than adequate (9x the pixles). So when purchasing a data plan for the month, you are buying in Megabytes. So do the math to figure out how many pictures you want. I have mine set to a three show burst so I am roughly using 1Mb (300kb x 3) for every motion that is activated. In the last few days I got about 6-10 triggers per day. So I am burning 8Mb per day. In 30 days I will need 240mb of data. There is a plan for $14.99 for 400mb of data per month that I will likely go with. Although the next plan up for $17.99 gives you 800mb of data for $3 more... hmmmmmm - Also at the time of this review, the Amazon cost for the camera was $339.72 and the same exact camera on Creative's website was $298.72 so obviously bought it there. Why they are not the same price is beyond me.
